Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Cook the Spinach

    Coarsely chop spinach.

    Mince garlic.

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-low heat.

    Add 1 tsp. olive oil, garlic, and spinach to hot pan. Stir often until wilted, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Transfer spinach and garlic to a mixing bowl and set aside, at least 5 minutes.

    Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    Form the Meatballs

    After 5 minutes, add turkey, panko, half the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish), garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to mixing bowl with spinach and garlic. Thoroughly combine.

    Form turkey mixture into 16 evenly-sized meatballs, about the size of golf balls.

    Start the Meatballs

    Return pan used to cook spinach to medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Working in batches if necessary, add meatballs to hot pan and roll occasionally until browned all over, 4-6 minutes.

    Add marinara, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Cover, and bring to a simmer.

    Finish the Meatballs

    Once simmering, cook covered, 5 minutes.

    Uncover, and stir occasionally until sauce thickens and meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 3-5 minutes.

    Remove meatballs to a plate. Keep pan over medium heat.

    Add pasta, butter, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir often until cooked through, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Finish the Dish

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta and sauce with meatballs and remaining cheese. Bon appétit!
