Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using antibiotic free chicken, pat dry. Cook until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes per side.

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Peel, trim, and cut carrot into 1/4" slices on an angle. If carrot is larger than 1" in diameter, halve before slicing.

Trim green onions. Thinly slice green portions of green onions on an angle and mince white portions of green onions. Keep white and green portions separate.

Pat steaks dry and season both sides with savory seasoning.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steaks

Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

Add steaks to hot pan and cook until steaks reach desired doneness, or 3-5 minutes per side for medium/medium-well.

Steak thickness can vary; if you receive a thinner steak, we recommend checking for doneness sooner.

Remove from burner. Transfer steaks to a plate and rest, 3 minutes.

    Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    While steaks cook, continue recipe.

  3. 3

    Cook the Carrots

Place another large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

Add carrots, 1/4 tsp. salt, brown sugar, garlic salt, and 1/4 cup water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, cover and cook until water is mostly evaporated and carrots are tender, 3-5 minutes.

Uncover and stir often until carrots are slightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While carrots cook, continue recipe.

  4. 4

    Make the Corn Cake Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine corn muffin mix, 1/4 tsp. salt, a pinch of pepper, 1 cup water, sour cream, and white portions of green onions.

  5. 5

Cook Corn Cakes, Make Honey Butter, and Finish Dish

Return pan used to cook steaks to medium heat and add 4 tsp. olive oil.

Working in batches, add 1/4 cup corn cake batter to hot pan and press lightly into a circle.

Cook until corn cakes are lightly browned and cooked through, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Remove from burner.

While corn cakes cook, in another mixing bowl, combine honey and softened butter. Set aside.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping steak with honey butter. Garnish carrots with green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
