Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Start the Turkey Mixture

    Break turkey into small pieces and place in provided tray. Spread into an even layer.

    Top turkey with pepper and onion mix, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until turkey is no longer pink, 15-18 minutes.

    Turkey will finish cooking in a later step.

    Carefully remove from oven and drain liquid from tray. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    Finish the Turkey Mixture

    Add salsa (use less if spice-averse) and taco seasoning to tray and stir until combined, breaking up larger pieces of turkey.

    Bake again uncovered in hot oven until turkey reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 5-8 minutes.

    Carefully remove from oven.

    While turkey mixture bakes, continue recipe.

    Heat Tortillas and Finish Meal

    Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds.

    If tortillas come folded, keep folded.

    To serve, fill tortillas with turkey mixture and top with cheese, sour cream, and crispy jalapeños (to taste). Bon appétit!
