Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F
  1. 1

    Cook the Orzo

Once water is boiling, add orzo and cook until al dente, 8-10 minutes.

Remove from burner. Reserve 1/2 cup orzo cooking water. Drain in a wire-mesh strainer and return to pot.

Stir in 1/3 the butter (reserve remaining for sauce) and half the garlic salt (reserve remaining for chicken and sauce). Set aside.

    While orzo cooks, continue recipe.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Halve tomatoes.

    Coarsely chop spinach.

Pat chicken dry and season both sides with chimichurri seasoning and half the remaining garlic salt (reserve remaining for sauce).

  3. 3

    Cook the Chicken

Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add chicken to hot pan and cook until browned and chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 5-7 minutes per side.

Remove from burner. Transfer chicken to a plate. Reserve pan; no need to wipe clean.

  4. 4

    Start the Sauce

Return pan used to cook chicken to medium heat. Add remaining butter to hot pan and let melt.

Add tomatoes, remaining garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Stir occasionally until softened, 2-3 minutes.

Add spinach and stir occasionally until wilted, 1-2 minutes.

  5. 5

Finish Sauce, Add Chicken, and Finish Dish

Stir in cream base, 1/4 cup orzo cooking water, lemon juice (to taste), and cheese. Bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, stir often until slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.

If sauce is too thick, add additional reserved orzo cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

Add chicken and flip until coated. Remove from burner.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, serving chicken with orzo and topping with sauce, if desired. Bon appétit!
