Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Follow same instructions as steak strips in Step 3, stirring occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

  • If using Impossible burger, follow same instructions as steak strips in Step 3, breaking up until burger reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

  • If using shrimp, pat dry. Follow same instructions as steak strips in Step 3, cooking until shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Cook the Rice

    Bring a small pot with rice, 11/4 cups water, and a pinch of salt to a boil.

    Once boiling, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook until rice is tender, 15-18 minutes.

    Remove from burner and set aside.

    While rice cooks, continue recipe.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces.

    Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.

    Mince garlic.

    Pat steak strips dry. Coarsely chop, then separate pieces.

    In a mixing bowl, combine steak strips, umami seasoning, and cornstarch. Set aside.

    Start the Stir-Fry

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add steak strips to hot pan and stir occasionally until no pink remains and steak strips reach a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Transfer steak strips to a plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    Finish the Stir-Fry

    Return pan used to cook steak strips to medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add onions, broccoli, garlic, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender and lightly browned, 6-8 minutes.

    Add steak strips, stir-fry sauce, soy sauce, and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce has thickened, 3-5 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Finish the Dish

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with stir-fry and garnishing with sesame seeds. Bon appétit!
