Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground beef, cook until meatballs reach minimum internal temperature, 10-12 minutes.

If using ground turkey, cook until meatballs reach minimum internal temperature, 11-13 minutes.

If using Impossible burger, cook until meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 10-12 minutes.

Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 9-11 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta cooking water. Drain in a colander and set aside.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
Start the Meatballs
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. Form sausage into 8 evenly-sized meatballs.
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.Add meatballs to hot pan and roll occasionally until browned all over, 4-6 minutes.Remove from burner. Transfer meatballs to a plate and set aside. Meatballs will finish cooking in a later step. Reserve pan; no need to wipe clean.While meatballs brown, continue recipe. -
Prepare the Ingredients
Trim ends off celery and cut into 1/4" dice.
Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.Mince garlic. -
Make Sauce and Finish Meatballs
Return pan used to sear meatballs to medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add celery and onions to hot pan and stir occasionally until tender and lightly browned, 6-8 minutes.
Add garlic and tomato puree and stir occasionally until combined, 1-2 minutes.Stir in marinara, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp. pepper, and 1/2 cup water. Then add meatballs and cover. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir occasionally until sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 6-8 minutes. -
Add Pasta and Finish Dish
Add pasta and butter to hot pan and gently stir until pasta is coated. If sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing pasta with cheese. Bon appétit!
