  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • 1 Medium Pot
  • 1 Microwave-Safe Bowl
  • 1 Large Non-Stick Pan
  • 1 Colander

Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. 

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

    Cook the Pasta

    Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 11-13 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.

    While pasta cooks, continue recipe.

    Prepare Onion and Make Caper Breadcrumbs

    Finely chop capers.

    Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine capers, panko, and 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Microwave uncovered until golden-brown and toasted, 1-2 minutes, stirring once halfway through.

    Carefully remove from microwave. Set aside.

    Cook the Pork and Onions

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add onions, garlic salt, and ground pork to hot pan. Stir occasionally until onions are tender, breaking up meat until no pink remains, and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 5-7 minutes.

    Add the Sauce

    Add marinara, garlic and parsley seasoning, and 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water to hot pan. Stir to combine, then bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, reduce heat to low and stir occasionally until sauce is slightly thickened, 3-5 minutes.

    If sauce is too thick, add remaining pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Add Pasta and Finish Dish

    Add pasta to hot pan and stir occasionally until heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Stir in softened Sicilian sauce (to taste) until melted and combined.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with caper breadcrumbs and cheese. Bon appétit!
