Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Start the Vegetables and Ground Beef

    Place ground beef in provided tray and break into bite-sized pieces.

    Add onion salt, diced onions, mushrooms, and 2 tsp. olive oil. Stir to combine and spread into an even layer.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven, 10 minutes.

    Carefully remove tray from oven and drain any excess liquid.

    Prepare the Risotto

    Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps and remove from packaging.

    Add rice, cream base, mirepoix base, 1/4 tsp. salt, a pinch of pepper, and 1/4 cup water to tray with beef mixture. Stir to combine. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    Cover tray with foil.

    Bake the Meal

    Bake covered in hot oven until risotto is bubbling and ground beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 10-12 minutes.

    Carefully remove from oven. Uncover and stir risotto.

    If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    To serve, top risotto with crispy onions. Bon appétit!
