Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

    Start the Filling

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

    Add ground beef and savory seasoning to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains, 3-4 minutes.

    Beef will finish cooking in a later step.

    Finish the Filling

    Add carrots and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until lightly browned, 3-4 minutes.

    Stir in tomato puree and flour until no dry flour remains.

    Stir in 1 cup water, demi-glace, and corn until combined. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, cover and cook until sauce begins to thicken and ground beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 3-4 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While filling cooks, continue recipe.

    Heat the Mashed Potatoes

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cream cheese, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Stir vigorously to combine.

    Cream cheese will melt as mashed potatoes heat.

    Cover with a damp paper towel. Microwave covered until heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave.

    Stir in butter and a pinch of salt and pepper until melted and combined.

    Finish the Dish

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping beef filling with mashed potatoes. Bon appétit!
