Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Start the Meatballs

    In a mixing bowl, combine panko and 2 Tbsp. water. Let sit, 1 minute.

    After 1 minute, add ground beef, mayonnaise, chimichurri seasoning, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Form mixture into 8 evenly-sized meatballs and place on one side of prepared baking sheet.

    Roast in hot oven, 10 minutes.

    Meatballs will finish cooking in a later step.

    While meatballs roast, continue recipe.

    Prepare Ingredients and Make Crema

    Core tomato and cut into 1/4" dice.

    Hold romaine heart at root end and chop coarsely.

    In another mixing bowl, combine sour cream, half the buttermilk-dill seasoning (reserve remaining for flatbreads), and 1 tsp. water. Set aside.

    Add the Flatbreads

    After 10 minutes, carefully remove sheet from oven.

    Drain any excess liquid from baking sheet, if necessary.

    Place flatbreads on empty side of baking sheet. Sheet will be hot! Use caution.

    Finish Flatbreads and Meatballs and Finish Dish

    Roast in hot oven until flatbreads are heated through and meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 3-5 minutes.

    Carefully remove sheet from oven.

    Evenly spread softened butter and remaining buttermilk-dill seasoning on flatbreads. Flatbreads will be hot! Use a utensil.

    To serve, fill flatbreads with meatballs, romaine, tomatoes, and crema. Bon appétit!
