Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Start the Italian Sausage and Butternut Squash

    Spray provided tray with cooking spray.

    Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

    Place sausage in provided tray and break into bite-sized pieces. Spread into an even layer. Evenly top sausage with butternut squash, garlic pepper, and a pinch of salt.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until squash starts to soften, 15-20 minutes.

    Add the Broth

    Carefully remove tray from oven. Add flour and stir until no dry flour remains.

    Add cream base, demi-glace, corn, and 1/2 cup water. Stir to combine. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    Bake Meal and Prepare Parsley

    Bake again uncovered in hot oven until soup is bubbling, butternut squash is tender, and Italian sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 15-20 minutes.

    While meal bakes, stem parsley and tear leaves.

    Carefully remove tray from oven. Stir in butter (to taste) until melted and combined. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    To serve, garnish with parsley. Bon appétit!
