Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 9-10 minutes.
Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.Reserve pot; no need to wipe clean.While pasta boils, continue recipe. -
Prepare the Ingredients
Coarsely chop spinach
Trim zucchini and cut into 1/4" dice. Zucchini quantity may vary, but total weight will remain the same. Don't worry; recipe instructions are not impacted.Mince parsley; no need to stem.Mince garlic.In a mixing bowl, combine flour and 2 cups water. Stir until flour dissolves. Set aside.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
Cook the Sausage
Return pot used to cook pasta to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add Italian sausage to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.
Transfer sausage to a plate. Keep pot over medium-high heat. -
Cook the Zucchini
Add 1 tsp. olive oil, zucchini, garlic, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pot.
Stir occasionally until lightly browned and tender, 4-6 minutes.Transfer zucchini to plate with sausage. Keep pot over medium-high heat. -
Add Broth and Pasta and Finish Dish
Add pasta cooking water, chicken base, and marinara to hot pot. Bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, slowly pour flour-water mixture into pot, stirring constantly until combined. Stir occasionally until slightly thickened, 4-5 minutes.Add sausage, zucchini, pasta, and spinach. Stir occasionally until spinach is wilted, 2-3 minutes.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with cheese and parsley. Bon appétit!
