To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

  • If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Halve tomatoes.

Stem poblano, seed, and cut into 1/2" dice. Poblano peppers can vary in spice level; most are mild, but a few can be quite hot. Wash hands and cutting board after prepping.

Remove sausage from casing, if necessary.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage

Place a large pot over medium-high heat.

Add 1 tsp. olive oil and sausage to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

Transfer sausage to a plate. Keep pot over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean.

  3. 3

    Cook Vegetables and Add Sauce

Add 1 tsp. olive oil, poblanos (to taste), and tomatoes to hot pot used to cook sausage. Stir occasionally until tender, 3-4 minutes.

Add cream cheese, cream base, half the shredded cheese (reserve remaining for garnish), Cajun seasoning (to taste), 1/4 tsp. salt, a pinch of pepper, and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, stir occasionally until cream cheese is melted and fully combined, 1-2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add the Pasta and Sausage

Add pasta, cooked sausage, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pot.

Stir occasionally until pasta is coated and heated through, 3-4 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

  5. 5

    Finish the Dish

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with remaining shredded cheese. Bon appétit!
