Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

Prepare the Ingredients
Cut mushrooms into 1/4" slices.
Mince garlic.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
Toast the Panko
Line a plate with a paper towel.
Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add half the butter (reserve remaining for pasta).Add panko to hot pan. Stir occasionally until golden-brown and toasted, 1-2 minutes.Transfer panko to towel-lined plate and keep pan over medium heat. -
Cook the Sausage
Add 2 tsp. olive oil to hot pan.
Add Italian sausage and break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
Add the Mushrooms
Add mushrooms, garlic, and a pinch of pepper to hot pan.
Stir occasionally until mushrooms are tender, 2-3 minutes. -
Add Sauce and Pasta and Finish Dish
Add tomato sauce, sugar, chicken base, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, add pasta, remaining butter, and half the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish). Stir occasionally until combined and pasta is heated through, 2-3 minutes.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with remaining cheese and toasted panko. Bon appétit!
