Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes. 

  • If using shrimp, pat dry. Cook until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Core tomato and cut into 1/2" dice.

    Drain and rinse black beans.

    Cook the Beef

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

    Add ground beef and half the taco seasoning (reserve remaining for rice) to hot, dry pan.

    Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Add the Vegetables and Rice

    Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging.

    Add corn, black beans, rice, and remaining taco seasoning to hot pan. Stir occasionally until rice is heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While rice cooks, continue recipe.

    Make the Queso

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine half the salsa (to taste; reserve remaining for topping), cream base, 2 Tbsp. water, cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cover with a damp paper towel.

    Microwave covered until cheese melts, 1-2 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave and stir until combined.

    If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Finish the Dish

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice mixture with queso. Garnish with remaining salsa (to taste), tortilla strips, and tomatoes. Bon appétit!
