Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces.
Combine ricotta, 1/3 the garlic pepper (reserve remaining for sauce), and 1 Tbsp. water in a mixing bowl. Set aside.Combine 11/2 cups water with cornstarch in another mixing bowl. Set aside.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
2 Cook the Sausage
Place a large oven-safe non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
Add 1 tsp. olive oil and Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Remove from burner. Transfer sausage to a plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve. -
3 Cook the Broccoli
Return pan used to cook sausage to medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add broccoli, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 5-7 minutes.Remove from burner. Transfer broccoli to plate with sausage. Wipe pan clean and reserve. -
4 Make the Sauce
Return pan used to cook sausage and broccoli to medium-low heat.
Add cream base, 3/4 cup tomatoes (remaining is yours to use as you please), remaining garlic pepper, 1/4 tsp. salt, a pinch of pepper, and cornstarch mixture to hot pan. Stir to combine, then bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir constantly until thickened, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner. -
5 Bake Pasta and Finish Dish
Stir sausage, broccoli, pasta, and a pinch of salt into hot pan until combined. Gently press down in pan to form an even layer. Top with shredded cheese.
Place pan in hot oven and bake until edges are bubbling and cheese is golden brown, 15-20 minutes.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with ricotta mixture. Bon appétit!
