Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

Prepare Ingredients and Make Slaw
Peel, trim, and cut carrot into 1/2" slices on an angle. If carrot is larger than 1" in diameter, halve before slicing.
Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle, keeping white and green portions separate.In a mixing bowl, combine slaw mix, sesame dressing, and a pinch of salt. Set aside, 10 minutes.While slaw rests, continue recipe. -
Cook the Ground Beef
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef and Asian garlic, ginger & chile seasoning (use less if spice-averse) to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Transfer ground beef to a plate. Wipe pan clean and keep over medium-high heat. -
Cook the Carrots
Add 1 tsp. olive oil, carrots, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pan. Stir often until lightly browned, 4-6 minutes.
Add 1/4 cup water and cover. Cook until water is mostly evaporated and carrots are tender, 2-3 minutes.Reduce heat to medium. -
Add the Beef and Sauce
Add cooked ground beef, white portions of green onions, and garlic sesame sauce to hot pan with carrots. Bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, stir occasionally until heated through, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner. -
Heat Rice and Finish Dish
Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Place rice and garlic salt in a microwave-safe bowl and stir.
Microwave uncovered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. Rest, 2 minutes.Stir in softened butter and a pinch of salt. Fluff rice with a fork.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with beef and carrots. Garnish with slaw and green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
