Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes. 

  • If using shrimp, pat dry. Cook until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Prepare Ingredients and Make Slaw

    Peel, trim, and cut carrot into 1/2" slices on an angle. If carrot is larger than 1" in diameter, halve before slicing.

    Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle, keeping white and green portions separate.

    In a mixing bowl, combine slaw mix, sesame dressing, and a pinch of salt. Set aside, 10 minutes.

    While slaw rests, continue recipe.

    Cook the Ground Beef

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

    Add ground beef and Asian garlic, ginger & chile seasoning (use less if spice-averse) to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Transfer ground beef to a plate and set aside. Wipe pan clean and keep over medium-high heat.

    Cook the Carrots

    Add 1 tsp. olive oil, carrots, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pan used to cook beef. Stir often until lightly browned, 4-6 minutes.

    Add 1/4 cup water and cover. Cook until water is mostly evaporated and carrots are tender, 2-3 minutes.

    Reduce heat to medium.

    Add the Beef and Sauce

    Add cooked ground beef, white portions of green onions, and garlic sesame sauce to hot pan with carrots. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until heated through, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Heat Rice and Finish Dish

    Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Place rice and garlic salt in a microwave-safe bowl and stir.

    Microwave uncovered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave. Rest, 2 minutes.

    Stir in softened butter and a pinch of salt. Fluff rice with a fork.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with beef and carrots. Garnish with slaw and green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
