Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |

- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 11-13 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
Prepare the Ingredients
Core tomato and cut into 1/4" dice.
Peel and mince shallot. -
Cook the Seitan
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add shallots and seitan to hot pan. Stir occasionally, breaking up seitan, until shallots are tender, seitan begins to brown, and seitan reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 3-4 minutes.
Add tomatoes and stir occasionally until juices begin to release, 2-3 minutes.Stir in garlic salt and garlic and parsley seasoning. -
Add the Sauce and Pasta
Add tomato sauce and half the reserved pasta cooking water to hot pan. Bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce thickens slightly, 3-4 minutes.Add pasta and stir until combined and coated, 30-60 seconds.If sauce is too thick, add additional reserved pasta cooking water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached. -
Add Peas and Finish Dish
Add butter, peas, and 1/2 tsp. salt to hot pan. Stir until butter is melted and combined and peas are heated through, 1-2 minutes.
Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing with cheese. Bon appétit!
