Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook the Sausage
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.Add Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
2 Add the Kale
Add kale to hot pan and stir often until wilted, 2-4 minutes.
Add tomatoes, half the Sicilian sauce (to taste; reserve remaining for risotto), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir occasionally until combined, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner.While sausage and kale cook, continue recipe. -
3 Start the Risotto
Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps and remove from packaging.
Place a medium pot over medium heat.Add 1/2 cup water, chicken base, cream base, rice, and garlic salt to hot pot. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir often until rice is heated through, 3-5 minutes. -
4 Finish Risotto and Finish Dish
Add 2/3 the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish) and remaining Sicilian sauce (to taste) to hot pot. Stir occasionally until melted and combined, 1-2 minutes.
If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping risotto with sausage-kale mixture. Garnish with remaining cheese. Bon appétit!
