Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

  • If using steak strips, pat dry, coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Stir occasionally until steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Prepare the Beans

    Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.

    Cook the Vegetables

    Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add pepper and onion mix and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender and lightly browned, 6-8 minutes.

    Stir in half the taco seasoning (reserve remaining for ground beef) and 1 Tbsp. water until combined.

    Transfer vegetables to a plate and tent with foil. Keep pan over medium heat.

    Cook the Ground Beef Mixture

    Add ground beef to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Carefully drain excess grease from pan, if desired.

    Return to medium heat and stir in remaining taco seasoning, fiesta seasoning, salsa (to taste), beans, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper. Stir occasionally until heated through, 3-5 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Heat Tortillas and Finish Dish

    Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds.

    If tortillas come folded, keep folded.

    Alternatively, place a medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add tortillas, one at a time, to hot, dry pan. Heat undisturbed, 30-45 seconds per side. Remove from pan.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, filling tortillas with ground beef, vegetables, and chipotle crema. Bon appétit!
