Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground pork, break up until pork reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Drain beans.
Halve and peel onions. Cut halves into 1/4" dice. -
2 Start the Chili
Place a medium pot over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Add onions (reserve 1/4 cup for garnish, if desired) and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pot. Stir occasionally until tender and translucent, 4-6 minutes.
Add ground beef and tomato puree. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
3 Finish the Chili
Add garlic salt and chili powder (to taste) to hot pot. Stir constantly until combined and fragrant, 1-2 minutes.
Add beans, crushed tomatoes, and 11/2 cups water. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir occasionally until slightly thickened and heated through, 10-12 minutes.Remove from burner. -
4 Finish the Dish
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping chili with reserved onions (to taste), cheese, sour cream, and tortilla strips. Bon appétit!
