Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |

  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Prepare Ingredients

    Pat pork shoulder dry.

    Place slow cooker liner in slow cooker, if desired. Fold top edges in before putting on lid.

    In a clean slow cooker, combine beef demi-glace, pepper and onion mix, 1 cup water, fajita seasoning, and tomato paste until paste is incorporated.

    Top with pork shoulder. Season with 3/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper.

    Cook the Meal

    Turn slow cooker on to low heat. Cover, and cook until pork shoulder reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 6-8 hours.

    Shred the Meat

    After meal cooks, carefully, shred pork shoulder in slow cooker into bite-sized pieces.

    Cover again, and keep on low heat until ready to serve.

    Finish the Dish

    Coarsely chop cilantro (no need to stem).

    Halve limes. Cut two halves into wedges and juice the other halves.

    In a mixing bowl, combine 1 Tbsp. lime juice and sour cream.

    Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, filling tortillas with pork mixture, and topping with crema, cilantro, and queso fresco (crumbling with your hands if needed). Bon appétit!
