Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Start the Sausage

    Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

    Place sausage in provided tray and break up into bite-sized pieces using hands. Top with 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven, 10 minutes.

    Sausage will finish cooking in a later step.

    While sausage bakes, continue recipe.

    Add the Pasta

    Break artichokes into bite-sized pieces using hands.

    Carefully remove tray from oven and drain excess liquid. Add pasta, artichokes, cream base, garlic pepper, cream cheese, 1/4 cup water, and half the shredded cheese (reserve remaining for garnish). Tray will be hot! Use a utensil. Cream cheese will melt as meal bakes.

    Stir to combine and cover tray with foil.

    Bake Meal and Toast Panko

    Bake covered in hot oven until pasta is heated through and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 10-15 minutes.

    While meal bakes, combine panko and 1 tsp. olive oil on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave until golden-brown and toasted, 60-90 seconds, stirring once halfway through.

    Carefully remove plate from microwave and tray from oven. Uncover tray and stir lemon juice and butter into pasta until melted and combined. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    To serve, top pasta with toasted panko and remaining shredded cheese. Bon appétit!
